Thursday

We rode our bikes with Toby in tow to downtown. It was 81 degrees.

We stopped at Weaver Park to walk around.

We hooked Toby’s trailer up to my bike. He did great— just a little whimpering a couple of times. He did much better than when hooked up to John’s electric bike.

This is the second washed up boat from the recent tropical storm. This was a one-time sailboat that had been converted to a motor boat. Multiple ironies with the name: “smooth “ and “sailing.” Neither applied.

The Pinellas Trail was very busy. There were more mask wearers than ever.

I found an old car blanket that we got for Dexter to use in the ‘99 Mercedes. It was lamb’s wool-like fabric on one side. Perfect for the trailer once I folded it.

HOB’s (House of Beer) “ brewery has added a two-story pavilion overlooking their new outdoor space. Lots of people enjoying the warm weather.

Toby enjoyed walking around at the park.

Winter landscape out on Honeymoon Island. We took Toby out for an island walk this morning.

Today’s bike routes with Toby in the trailer on the downtown spur, but running alongside John’s trike while in the neighborhood.

Wednesday

Yuki time!!

Morning lake walk

Happy Festivus, the holiday celebrated on Seinfeld, for people who were over Christmas. The sign mocks the Fairway signs recognizing “Yard of the Season.” “Yard of the season for the restivus.”

We walked out to the causeway from our house. It got up to 79 degrees today.

Toby saw something outside and stayed in this position for a while.

Tuna steaks, potatoes, and peas

Today’s bike route drew a “J” for John. This route was for Toby in the trike.

Tuesday

We took our bikes and Toby in his trailer out to the causeway after lunch for a walk. It was 73 degrees and sunny. When John goes to the restroom, Toby sits and waits for him to return, never taking his eyes off of the entrance. Doesn't everyone want someone to long for them with eyes like that?

Toby managed to find the one yucky fish tail on the causeway. John dumped a pocket full of treats in an attempt to distract him, but Toby preferred the fish tail. John had to remove it by hand.

The way the clouds were stacked on top of each other on the horizon looked fake. They were so orderly.

We're still searching for the right combination to make Toby like his trailer more. We took the cushion out to give him more room. We probably need to find a thinner one to help cushion the bumps. We put the see-through windows down to keep him warm. It didn't seem to help. He has crying fits. I think it's time to hook his trailer back up to my bike.

John continued to practice riding his trike with Toby running and walking alongside. It's a good way to get Toby some running in. John only goes around the block to keep from stressing Toby's baby bones. And he goes slow.

This morning we put Toby in his crate and went to Publix for our flu shots. And Publix gave us both a $10 gift card for doing so. We walked to Publix via the Curlew Creek bridge through the neighborhood and then we took the Pinellas Trail home.

Morning coffee time.

Monday

It was 73 degrees today, so we took advantage of the warmth to walk and be outside.

We walked around Lake Saundra and had Toby pull/ride with John on his Terra Trike.

We put Toby in his crate and went for a long walk on the causeway.

The day started out at the tire store to fix a small leak. As luck would have it, the leak was too close to the edge to plug, so we ended up getting 4 new tires! They had 35,500 miles and were soon going to be replaced—just not today.

Oh, well. We have new tires!

Pretty sky at sunset.

We are gaining skills in puppy management. Sometimes it seems Toby is studying us to see what he can get away with. I think the goal is to stay ahead of his learning curve.

I think we all miss the dog park. As soon as his leg completely heals from his attempt to crawl through the bike frame, we’ll be back to that a few times per week.

This was John’s short bike ride with Toby towing him around.
