Tuesday

55 degrees for the high temperature today. Winds blowing at 13 mph.

Our only house project was painting this last repair.

Monday

Today's project entailed putting down mulch in the back bed to keep dirt from splashing up on the new paint when it rains. Here's the bed before the mulch.

Another before picture.

With mulch

I added a bit more mulch to the front beds.

The other project was to prime the last remaining doorway opening repair. It may need to dry overnight before painting.

I also hung the backyard hose holder. A future project is to have a plumber replace all of our hose bibs. This one leaks badly when we turn on the hose.

Looking good.

I took time to tidy up our workbench. It was piled high with tools.

Getting rid of the mulch and most of the painting supplies helped tidy up the garage.

John washed the car. It spent a lot of time outside during our roofing project and got filthy.

Sunday

It warmed up to 76 degrees today, so we got to painting. John put on the second coat on the walls. We're through with Swiss Chalet, except for a few touch ups.

I cleaned the window ledges so that we could paint them.

I cleaned the pony wall too.

You can see Chantilly Lace on the right of the ledge.

Ledges painted

Sunroom window ledges painted

All painted except the doors.

I repainted these ledges. They got scuffed here and there from the roofing project.

I re-painted the front low wall and columns where they had gotten scuffed. I primed a few spots first.

Mostly done

I have the garage side door, the main garage door, the back bathroom door, and the sunroom door to paint.

We spent about $1100 in supplies for the project, but that included things we will continue to use such as the pressure washer, ladder, paint brush holder, cut-in blade, etc. We probably saved $7,000 painting the house ourselves. Plus, we did a lot of repair work that some painters might not have bothered with.

I'm glad to have most of the work done before it gets cold. Tuesday and Wednesday the high temps will only be in the upper 50s before returning to the 70s by Friday.

Our second bathroom shower diverted stopped working tonight. I watched a couple of videos and went to take a look to see if I could fix it. Before I even got into it, I noticed that the diverter knob was not screwed down all the way. A few twists and it's working again. Glad I didn't call a plumber.

Saturday

Getting there. Rebuilding this corner is taking a lot of time.

Looks okay from a distance. I'll add one more layer after this dries.

Looks great. Primed and ready to paint.

Tomorrow, I'll roll the second coat. Then I'll work on the window sills and doors as the weather permits. They'll be Chantilly Lace.
