Friday

We took it easy today. We walked the causeway this morning and walked Toby in the neighborhood a few times. The high today was 81 degrees.

Evidently, it was a good day to go sailing. Winds were about 11 mph all day.

The clouds cleared before lunch and the rest of the day was mostly sunny.

Thursday

I rode my bike out to Honeymoon Island after we picked Toby up from daycare. John stayed behind to nap and look after Toby. I walked past the crowds and enjoyed my solitude.

The blue dot shows where I turned around.

Since Toby was at daycare, we rode our bikes downtown to Carvors Fish House for lunch after our morning causeway walk. Fish and chips (cucumber and tomato salad instead of chips).

Is it a smile or a smirk? Hard to tell.

It was a beautiful day for a bike ride, about 79 degrees and partly sunny.

Businesses were humming up and down the trail.

The painters of the water tower are still doing prep work. Can’t wait to see the sea turtle crawling out of its egg.

Wednesday

I rode my bike to lake Saundra after dropping John off at the house. I had a bottle of water and watched the wildlife. No sign of the alligator.

It got up to 80 degrees today, and breezy, about 11 mph.

A hibiscus from our yard

This house on our neighborhood walk has an orange tree in the front yard, full of oranges. Fairway Estates used to be an orange grove until the 1960s.

A huge hibiscus bush

We stopped by Publix after our morning causeway walk. They had the best blueberries and strawberries.

The temperature was in the upper 60s for our causeway walk this morning.

Toby’s scar from yesterday’s daycare play is healing. You can see the arc beside his brown eye patch.

We’re ready to snuggle and watch “Emily in Paris” on Netflix.

Puzzle dinner

A decent score

We had Thai basil chicken for dinner. It brought tears to our eyes and snot to our noses, but it sure was good!

Tuesday

After our morning causeway walk and lunch, I rode my bike out to Honeymoon Island while John and Toby took a nap.

The beach was crowded again. I walked a few miles. The 80 degree sun felt good.

There were lots of clouds this afternoon.

Dunedin is doing some sidewalk repair on the sidewalk that forms the Dunedin Causeway Trail. They had to close one lane of traffic, so cars were backed up all the way to the park entrance trying to cross the causeway and get back to the mainland. I’ve never seen cars backed up leaving the park. It made biking more difficult because I had to cross the street to get to the sidewalk on the north side. Then I had to cross the busy Curlew/Bayshore intersection twice.

This is the color combination we’re thinking about for our kitchen remodel—minus the brass hardware.

Toby got to go to daycare today. He got a scratch around his brown eyepatch. The caretakers put some ointment on it. It appears to be a surface scratch. We’re thinking it was some dog’s dewclaw, a dog’s thumb equivalent.

As soon as they came out to get him and took the leash from us, he bolted for the door that leads to the playrooms. No hesitation. No looking back. It makes us happy to be able to provide something that makes him so happy.

Toby got a shower and shampoo with me and is now all curled up on the sofa, fast asleep.

Monday

We rode our bikes out to Honeymoon Island this afternoon. I think it was even more crowded than over the weekend. It was 75 degrees.

Too cold for me to go swimming, but there were lots of people in the water.

We did dip our toes in the water.

Toby doing his Burt Reynolds’s Cosmopolitan centerfold impersonation (If you were alive in the 1970s, you know exactly what I’m talking about.)

It was warm enough for shirtsleeves on our causeway walk this morning (64 degrees).

The water was clear today.

It’s not often that you see the bottom here at the tidal bridge.

There were two motorized gliders on the causeway.
