Saturday

It looked like it was going to be a pretty nice day. These bikers certainly thought so. The forecast said 10-20% chance of rain this morning and 50% later this evening.

We drove to the causeway to walk because the chance for rain seemed greater than the forecast. Fog shrouded the distant horizon so the sea and sky were one.

The temperature was 66 degrees when we started.

The fog began to lift making it possible for this kayaker, paddle boarder, and sailor to move about safely.

We found the one patch of blue sky and light.

Once we got home, the rain began. While temperatures were in the lower 70s, it felt much cooler.

It rained until late this afternoon.

We’re watching Glass Onion: Knives Out Mystery on Netflix.

Friday

Last walk of the day, 74 degrees. John said it’s been a perfect Florida winter day. No long pants.

A cloudy day, but no complaints. The temperature ranged from 60-78 degrees.

We waited until after lunch to drive out to the causeway to walk. We would have ridden our bikes but there was a 10 mph east wind, which makes pedaling up Palm Boulevard a challenge on the way home. It’s the second closest thing we have to a mountain around here. (Clearwater Causeway is our biggest mountain.)

There were a few patches of blue.

It’s good to go to bed tired from exercise. We sleep so well.

Toby has been his sweet self today, always bringing joy and enthusiasm.

We are working our way through season three of Emily in Paris.

Thursday

The high temperature hit 77 degrees this afternoon, so we hopped on our bikes and rode to Stevenson Creek.

It was a beautiful afternoon following a chilly morning.

Selfie in motion

Downtown was very crowded.

I stopped at the outdoor gym at Weaver Park to exercise while John rode on home.

There were lots of tourists at the gym. I didn’t see any locals.

Our new rug came this morning. Of course, Toby wanted to be in the middle of everything.

We unrolled it and put the furniture back on it. Then the rug pad came.

We undid everything and installed the pad after a little cutting.

We like it.

A cozy nook

We drove at sunset to get Chinese takeout.

Toby went along for the ride.

Pretty view over Curlew Creek

Just enough time for one last walk.

Today’s bike ride to Stevenson Creek and Weaver Park

Wednesday

Even though it was 44 degrees on our first walk with Toby, the temperature finally warmed to 73 degrees. We were happy to ditch long underwear. We even made it to the causeway to walk, but we had to wait until after lunch. John says I’m experiencing a pre-COVID Dunedin winter holiday for the first time. Everything is crowded. And there are lots of new faces on the causeway.

By the time we rode our bikes to the causeway the temperature was already in the upper 60s.

Lots of people on the Pinellas Trail

Happy and warm

Some people were even in the water.

Toby had a better day today. It helps when we leave the house because he gets a long, uninterrupted nap.

Tuesday

On our way to get dinner, we came upon this snow stained car. What a mess. I’m sure they were glad to get back to Florida where it was 63 degrees today.

After 4 days of long johns and socks, we were happy to shuck some layers. This morning, the temperature was still in the low 40s, and we were beginning to feel a little cranky.

We even made it back to shorts this afternoon. The warm sun made a huge difference to our dispositions.

We headed for Petsmart at our usual time, only to learn that class doesn’t resume until next week.

But it was okay. We all needed to get out of the house for a change of scenery.

Last walk of the day.

We cleaned the house and showered ourselves and Toby. Clean sheets and towels. Ready for more tolerable weather.
