Friday & Saturday

Lake Saundra Toby walk with Ducks and chicks in the lake.

Small dog riding a skateboard

We walked and jogged the causeway. Later, I rode my bike to Weaver Park to exercise.

Lilies!

Saturday, we took it easy, stayed inside, and walked Toby in the neighborhood, except for his last walk. We took him to Stirling Park in the golf cart.

I watched Netflix movies.

Birds of paradise

Our replacement tiles arrived late this afternoon. We asked for 26 tiles to be replaced. TileBar sent two full boxes with 20 tiles in each box. Excellent customer service.

Thursday

We made it via bike to the causeway about 45 minutes earlier than our usual time. We made a concerted effort to get there before it got hot and crowded. We'll try to keep this schedule up for the summer to beat the heat and intense sun. We were home by 9:45.

It was calm and quiet. We could hear the sound of the waves lapping on the shore. Normally, the car noise drowns out the sounds of nature.

It's finally beginning to feel like typical Dunedin weather. Nearly perfect weather.

Leftovers spinach, tomatoes, chickpeas, quinoa with roasted zucchini, squash, and broccoli

I watched Netflix movies today: Boy Erased and Baby Reindeer.

Wednesday

We rode our bike to the causeway to walk and jog this morning, and on the way back home we stopped at Frenchy's Market to pick up some fresh fish for dinner. We got a pound of cod that was on sale. We'll make some roasted potatoes and have our own version of fish and chips, but a lot healthier.

The player development housing next door for the Toronto Blue Jays is coming along. This development plus the new condominiums and wine bar in the next block are going to add a lot of activity on Causeway Boulevard.

The fish market man told us to bake the cod at 350 degrees for 20 minutes with lemon slices and garlic.

We jogged and walked. It was a beautiful morning on the causeway, a bit breezy on the way back to the mainland. There were white caps in the sound from the easterly breeze.

We heard back from TileBar about our damaged tile. They've put together a replacement order for all the broken, chipped, and smudged tiles. We're not in a hurry, but they acted like the damaged tiles were holding up our project, so they were taking the problem very seriously. In the meantime, I sorted out the tiles: undamaged, broken, and minor chipped. I figured this may help the tile installer choose tiles for cutting and placement. The sunroom will be our storage room when floor tile demolition begins in August.

After lunch, I rode to Weaver Park to do yoga and some weight lifting. I took it easy and finished up in less than an hour. I made it home in time for a fruit smoothie.

Dinner prep

Delicious!
Healthy!
Easy clean up!
We're going to try and stop by Frenchy's Market after our walks more often so that we can eat more fresh fish.

Tuesday

We ran errands this morning, getting dog food at the local Dunedin Pet Supply and food for us at the Publix on Main Street. It's a larger store, so it was a nice change. We came home and had brunch and then lunch. We were going to jog around the neighborhood after lunch, but we ran out of energy on our Toby walk. We were so sleepy that we crashed and took an hour nap. The afternoon dragged by with little action.

For dinner, we roasted our fresh squash and broccoli and added them to our leftover Spinach, Sweet Potato, and Lentil Dahl.

The rest of our decorative tile arrived this evening. We knew when we saw this box that there would be some broken tiles.

Sure enough, we had 21 broken tiles. We only had 1 broken tile in our first shipment and there were more boxes in that shipment.

We also had 6 chipped tiles and 1 with a smudge on it that I could not remove. I tried dish soap and Goo Be Gone, but it wouldn't come off.

I sent an email with pictures to Tile Bar to make a damage claim. We ordered 22 boxes and each box contains 20 pieces of tile, so we had over a box of damaged tile total. I'm glad we ordered early. I assume we'll get to keep the damaged tiles, so maybe our tiler can use them for cut pieces instead of ruining a perfect tile.

Monday

A week or so ago, we got invited to a friend's house for dinner. She invited another couple from the neighborhood. The new couple knew us from the neighborhood because we're always walking. The wife invited us to join her for free yoga session at Lake Saundra taught by a newcomer in the neighborhood. We did that this morning at 9:30 by the lake. The woman brought her granddaughter. Another woman came, whom we also knew well. So the six of us did yoga by the lake under the trees. It was really nice. We both enjoyed it and came home super relaxed and tension-free.

After lunch, I rode my bike to Weaver Park to do some more stretching and weight lifting. It was 75 degrees, a bit chilly in the 10 mph breeze.

We don’t think this plant has ever bloomed. It’s beside our front door.

We slept 9 hours last night.

Sunday

We got an earlier start than usual this morning. We're trying to complete our morning exercise by 10:00 to stay out of the dangerous sun.

Today, that wasn't a problem. There were plenty of clouds. We rode our bikes out to the causeway in 70 degree weather. We ran the bridges and walked the rest. We're trying to get 25 minutes of aerobic activity per day.

We selected tonight's menu. It's a repeat: Spinach, Sweet Potato, and Lentil Dahl.

We stopped by Publix on the way home and picked up some fresh ingredients.

Delicious!

We took Toby for a walk after lunch. He got a bath last night and smells so good.

I cleaned the back side of our neighbor's fence this afternoon. It had some mold and algae growing on it, and it's right outside the kitchen sink window, so your eye goes straight to it.

All clean now. It was a good aerobic workout because I had to scrub really hard to get it off, even with cleaner fluid.

I cloroxed the outdoor chairs.

And washed (just using the jet spray on a regular hose) the entrance and windows all the way around the house.

And I cleaned the garage door.

I took this picture of a bird of paradise, but didn't realize the gutter downspout was the backdrop. And I didn't even get all of the flower in the frame! That's how I work, fast and furious and mostly sloppy. But I keep moving.

Saturday

Beautiful morning walk and jog on the causeway. It was 75 degrees with a 1 mph breeze.

Lots of people on water and land.

Brunch

Our decorative tile for the bathroom remodel arrived last night. They weren't due until Tuesday. They are beautiful, but like the kitchen tile, they look even better in person.

The name is Juneau Spring with blue, aqua, brown and silver.

The tiles will cover the wall behind where the shower is and behind where the current tub is, all the way to the ceiling.  This wall will be the focal point of the bathroom, so we wanted to make sure we would have the tile and not have to wait for it on back order. The wall at the end of the vanity with the hair dryer on it will be removed. That shower wall will be all glass all the way to the floor. The other shower wall  to the right with the fixtures will be the same tile as the floor.

I unpacked 12 of these small boxes of tile. It reminded me of unpacking specimen slides that we used to use in the laboratory to examine blood samples under a microscope. We have 10 more small boxes on the way. They should arrive Tuesday.

I laid the tiles out and examined each one.

There were only 3 questionable tiles. I set them aside. If we don't return them, the tilers can use them for cut pieces.

There was only one broken tile. I'll consider filing a damage claim once I inspect the other 10 boxes on Tuesday.

The next critical purchase for the design is the round tub. The project will not work as well with any other shape, so we want to make sure we get the round tub. After that, we'll start ordering the things we will need immediately after demolition.

I think this background inspired our tile choice; they are very similar.

Currently, our project is scheduled to begin in late August.

Yummy and convenient leftovers
