Today was the first rainfall since Feb. 26, more than a month ago. The land really needs it. But the skies were cloudy and dreary looking. The high was 66 degrees, which feels very cold when the sun isn't shining and there's a light drizzle.
The city provides reclaimed water (partially treated) for homeowners to use to water their lawns. I'm not sure about how it works exactly. I just know that we are limited in the days (and gallons) we're allowed to water. We were notified a week or so ago to cut back because of limited supplies. Today's rain--more of a gentle mist--will likely not make much of an impact. The image above is from Mira Vista Park on the St. Joseph sound, a couple of blocks from the Pinellas Trail.
A woman who apparently lives nearby posted on social media that "idiots" were using "our" park and that they should "Stay home." Many posted that it was a public park and open for use as long as folks maintained the proper social distance. Her ugly post, no doubt, has made the park more popular than ever. I've made a point to visit every day since.
I suppose the pandemic has brought out our selfishness. The nation's stockpile, according to Jared Kushner, is "our stockpile" and is not intended for the states to use, when, in fact, that's exactly what it was intended for. Editing the web site to unsay that does not change the reality.
Blue skies and highs in the 80s are predicted for the week. If only the forecast for the pandemic were as hopeful.
