Friday

Grocery day is Friday, so we get to load up on fresh fruit and vegetables. Today's treat included Minneola tangelos, red grapes, blackberries, and strawberry yogurt.

Dee Dee got to go out to the island for her morning walk. She's had a couple of bad days. She's retaining a lot of fluid and really struggling to eat. John bought some boneless chicken thighs and cooked that up for her, which she really enjoyed. Her cough is back. The cough is the result of fluid in her body and neck, pressing on her wind pipe. She's been worse, but she's also been much better. We're hoping it's a temporary set back. We are a bit exhausted.

John did make me get out of the house for a short bike ride. I was so tired, but it was good to get some fresh air.

The rain has been off and on today. The air felt cool on our bike ride (upper 70s).

We had a simple meal for dinner.

John walked the causeway after grocery shopping while I had my phone exit interview with HR. I learned a little bit about dental benefits that I didn't know before (options), but other than that, there were no surprises.

I also sent my supervisor an email telling her that I would not be able to return to campus and asking her to clear out my last filing cabinet drawer and have Facility Services to shred it all. I hated to do that, but she was very gracious. She won't even be able to get to it until January. At least I hope that the pandemic will finally be under control by then.

I learned this afternoon that the college is suspending all walk-in services next week to "re-assess all service protocols to maintain safe environments on campus." It sounds like they've had a very chaotic week.

I received my last advisee question late this afternoon.

At 5:00 p.m., my vacation began with my retirement being official on September 1.

Miles walked: 3
Miles biked: 11.33
