We enjoyed a sunrise walk on the Dunedin Causeway this morning with Toby. He continues to amaze us. He got to meet and play with two dogs: a basset hound and a Rhodesian Ridgeback. He passed many other dogs without incident. I think we can say he's good with dogs for now.
He got a little scared once and immediately went belly up in the submissive position.
Resting after a busy morning on the causeway.

Toby's baby teeth. He's lost three in less than twenty four hours.
Tomorrow he gets his clackers removed and his final vaccination shots. He will be on house restrictions after the surgery for two weeks: no walks, only outside to pee and poop. He has to wear an e-collar and spend time in his crate. I wish we had more time to bond with him first, but it's important to do it. He's going to have a rough two weeks.
We took Toby for an afternoon walk around the neighborhood, and this man with a little white dog came up to us for his dog to say hi. We had moved to the other side of the street because his dog was giving Toby "the look," staring him down. The man crossed the street and says, sometimes my dog is a little aggressive around male dogs, especially if they are bigger than he is. I'm thinking: "Then what the hell are you doing crossing the street? Our dog is clearly male and larger." Sure enough, as soon as their noses touched, the little white dog nipped at Toby. Toby was confused and didn't know what to do. He backed off, which is good. I think he thought it was playful, but I don't think it was at all. I was a bit miffed that the man approached us at all. Toby didn't seem to care, but I fumed all the way home.
We stuck around the house to spend time with Toby before his surgery tomorrow.

Cameron has always been into native plants which I have resisted because I want a true Southern plant vibe. I understand.
ReplyDeleteI think I love Toby. He has passed with flying colors ma y times encountering other dogs.
Will be thinking about him tomorrow and his surgery.
Love you both.
