Florida snowman in 75 degree weather!

Toby inspects Mr. Snowman

First walk on the beach

Brown spot on the beach

Good dog

Toby is content to lie around and survey the landscape.  We could never get Dee Dee or Dexter to sit still on any beach.

Thirsty dog

I think Toby had a great first trip to the beach. Of course, something has to go wrong to make it a memorable trip. Somehow he got a sand spur on the top of his nose, right on the scar from a recent collision with an end table. Yes, there was some drama, but John was able to calm himself down once he removed the spur.

We walked Toby on the Dunedin Causeway this morning at 8:30 when it was 68 degrees.

We spent the morning trying to think about how to remove the orange stain from our lives. We were a bit desultory trying to maintain our routines amidst the uncertainty of the election. Fittingly, when we drove the car into the garage, we ran over Toby's early morning poop bag (with two tires) and then proceeded to track it into the garage--and smoosh it really good into the treads.

That dim-witted maneuver necessitated a tire wash which logically led to a car wash and garage hosing. If only it were that easy to get rid of orange stains.

Toby lost his tennis ball under the bed, so he crawled under it to rescue it. Notice the neglected expensive toy in the foreground.

For some reason, this is one of his favorite places to hang out when there's nothing going on, even though he has a perfectly good kennel he could use.

We had mahi mahi, with roasted red peppers and roasted sliced almonds with rice and black-eyed peas for dinner.

We enjoyed a 75 degree sunset walk around the neighborhood.

  1. I have childhood memories of those damn sand spurs but never got one in my nose. Poor Toby. He sounds like a wonderful dog. I love that he was content with a tennis ball under the bed.

Still not breathing until the results are ALL counted.

  2. I laughed out loud at the tire story. Somehow when that happens it is EVERYWHERE. YES Dad and I have picked our share of sand spurs from you two. I stayed up til 2;00am but called it a night only b/c I had to get up at 6;00 this morning for my cardiac rehab session.
