Saturday

We enjoyed the mostly sunny, 70 degree weather and rode our bikes out to Honeymoon Island. We put Toby in his crate for some alone time.

It was a beautiful day with lots of people on the Pinellas Trail.

This morning we drove to the Dunedin Youth Guild Park with Toby. Then we walked north on the Pinellas Trail.

The park is just inside the northern most city limits.

The Pinellas Trail bridge that crosses Alt 19 hovers over the park.

On the other side of the park is St Joseph’s Sound and nearby marinas. The low tide shows just how shallow the sound is.

The park itself is nice. We had a picnic here this spring. There’s a kayak launch at the edge of the park. Today, there was a yoga club doing exercises. It was 60 degrees at 9:00.

After our Toby walk this morning, we put him in his crate and walked the entire causeway. We haven’t done that in a while because of John’s toe injury. After yesterday’s cold weather, it was nice to get outside.

The city put out more sand to rebuild the roadway that the tropical storm washed out. (I think this is why the sound is so shallow.)

I sat out in the driveway after lunch to enjoy the sun and do some reading. It's supposed to rain tomorrow afternoon, but the temperature will be 70 degrees. Can't complain.

Today’s Toby drama
We took him on a neighborhood walk and a bee landed on his pee pee and stung him! What an indignity!

The three of us worked together to remove the stinger, which you can see above in a magnified photo. Poor guy. Toby was a wiggle worm during the delicate operation, as you can imagine.
John gave him Benadryl, and Toby has been out all afternoon and evening.
Puppy mania was cancelled for the day.

I’ve been trying to get a good shot of Toby’s freckles behind his ears. This shot shows the morning sun coming into the sunroom and passing through his pink and almost hairless ears. He’s got matching freckles on his fanny, also nearly hairless. He almost looks like a cartoon dog.

For dinner, we had a super salad and a bowl of John’s wonderful chili. The tomatoes this year have been unusually delicious.

Today’s bike route

Miles walked: 8
Mikes biked: 11.67

  1. Glad John felt like getting out. Poor Toby. Ouch!!! Beautiful photography/skies. I’ve been in all day. Cleaned our bath and vacuumed the master bedroom area, dusted the whole house. Did a couple loads of laundry. Also made chili. Dad loved it and has bragged on it, my energy level is back. PTL!!!!! A very cold day. Easy to stay inside.

  2. Love the pic of To y’all ears. They look translucent. Sorry about the bee sting. How do these things happen? I too am Jeannie of the blue skies and sunshine. Dreary and cold here.
