My two patients are alive and recovering, and no one ran into any walls or doors today.
We moved the mattress to the floor to make it easier for Toby to get in and out of bed. He woke up at 1:00 but went back to sleep after going outside to pee. He got us up for good at 4:15.
We’ve sat with him in the office all day. John played his computer game and I read the entire internet. Toby stayed in his bed at our feet.
We all took a 2-hour nap in the middle of the afternoon. It was a hard sleep. We’re both a bit groggy.
Toby has a lot of energy. Dogs have that way of always living in the present, accepting their condition as permanent without complaint or regret. He doesn’t understand taking it easy now to heal and feel better later. But he also isn’t depressed or sad.
It was 65 degrees but mostly overcast. Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler but sunny.
Toby got his first dose of take-home medicine (every 24 hours). He is better but limping. Occasionally, he’ll squeal when he moves his arm the wrong way. He probably walked on it more than he should have, but it’s hard to keep a puppy immobilized.
We will call his vet tomorrow morning to schedule a follow-up appointment.

You guys are the best parents. Toby is lucky.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Pam re Toby. 👍 We went to Christmastown at Grey Stone last night. It was a drive through. Will send photos. Instead of the living Christmas Tree, a 36 year tradition of Christmas music with choir in the Christmas Tree they set up the tree outside with a drive through of lights telling the Christmas story.
