Thursday

It got up to 71 degrees today. So glad to put that cold weather behind us. John calls this flower above a weed and threatens to pull it up, but I like it. Here's a quick tour around the yard:

Last year, our lime tree had one lime. This year we've had a half dozen.

The staghorn fern we picked up in Palm Harbor last year is thriving. We got it for $20 and it had two small leaves on it. These can get huge. Lots of folks have them in the crooks of trees or hanging from a branch like we have here. We hear they like bananas!

I lopped off some of the low hanging branches from the avocado tree.

The man who treats our lawn noticed the missing fig tree. He was disappointed that we cut it down. He said it was a purple, Greek fig tree. I explained that the tropical storm had blown it over.

Artsy geckos at the entrance to the house, installed by the original owners.

We took several walks around the neighborhood and left Toby to roam freely in the house. I think it was good for everyone. Nothing was amiss when we returned.

Toby and I sat in the driveway to soak up the warm sun. He was on full alert at first because the sprinklers across the street were on. He was very curious until they finally went off.

He settled and let me do some reading.

My reading face.

Toby had a good day today. No limping and no medication. We limited his walks to 2-3 houses down the street, a short walk at the art center, and a short walk on the causeway. We were trying to give him some stimulation by changing the venues without re-injuring his arm and shoulder. I think we succeeded.

He slept last night from 8:30 to 5:30 this morning, the longest he's slept yet. He did get up at some point early this morning and roam around, but when he came to the side of the bed, I lifted up the covers and he climbed in, which I know is gross to some, but his fur is so soft and cuddly you might get over it real fast.

I fixed baked fries and Bocca burgers for dinner. Toby enjoyed the sights out the back sliding door while I cooked and listened to classical music that Alexa chose as "dinner music."

If things go well tomorrow, we'll put the mattress back on the bed and get back to some sort of normal.

Miles walked: 4.5
Miles biked: 0

  1. I read your blog twice. You write very well. I thought Toby climbing in bed with you was sweet.
