Happy New Year!
We took a bike ride without Toby to Wall Springs Park, Coastal Addition after lunch. It was 82 degrees and the trail was busy.
The Coastal Addition Trail is the best one in the county: lots of curves through the woods and ending at the water.
Using John's Terra Trike to "walk" Toby has proved to be pure genius. It allows Toby to go at the pace he chooses. I ride along on my bike or sometimes jog to look out for traffic, but we never go beyond our two blocks of Watrous. Two or three times a day seems to do the trick. That plus spending some alone time in his crate, or his "man cave" as John calls it. Toby has been like a different dog the last two days. Sweet all day long without the puppy mania meltdowns we were experiencing.
The fireworks last night were disturbing to Toby, but nothing like they were to Dexter and Dee Dee. Toby barked a couple of times after the particularly loud and long explosions, but he quickly settled back down and went back to sleep. As long as he was inside, he felt safe. On his last walk of the day, on the other hand, he bolted for home the first time a firework exploded. There was no talking him down.
We forgot all about the New Year's tradition of black-eyed peas, ham, and collards. Good thing neither one of us is superstitious. We had an arugula salad, cucumbers, tomatoes, broccoli with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing; bean and cheese burrito; refried beans; and rice.
One of John's friends brought him a Happy New Year's gift.
The candle was cool but look at the label he added to the back! "Here's to a Great 2021!" under an image of our house. Great gift idea.
Toby has been an old soul the last couple of days. More mature than his age. A couple of days ago, we were really struggling with his afternoon craziness.
Morning coffee-snuggle time never gets old.
Today's bike route, in the neighborhood with the trike with Toby and the northern spur to Wall Springs Park without him.

Glad progress has been made with Toby. Good job. The weather here has been drizzling all day. I could not walk today, it drizzled just enough to cancel my “want to”. However, I’ve worked on de Christmas in the house all day. I am about to de decorate the tree. I’ve enjoyed our tree immensely this year. I turn it on before I pour my and leave it on until I go to bed. 👏Tomorrow is predicted to be better weather. Dad is enjoying the ball games.
