Friday

It was 79 degrees this afternoon when we took Toby on a bike ride. We rode through downtown, all the way to Stevenson Creek. We experimented, briefly, with leaving the rear cover up on his trailer, but we quickly decided that it didn't help Toby relax or us, even though he was leashed in and couldn't hop out. Eventually, he got comfortable enough to sit down, and he kept his intermittent whining to a minimum.

On the way back, we stopped at the community center to get Toby some water and to exercise.

Many homes, businesses, and municipal properties in Dunedin use reclaimed water for irrigation. There are separate water lines throughout the city. The reclaimed water has been partially treated. Our water bill includes indoor use of potable water and the use of reclaimed water, itemized separately. Everyone gets an allotted amount of reclaimed water each month; if we go over, then we are charged at a higher rate.

Stag-horn Fern and "We Love Dunedin" plaque at the community center.

We walked the causeway this morning. It was a balmy 68 degrees.  We ran into our Pennsylvania friends and agreed that the weather was better here than where we came from.

These birds agree.

The water was calm, no wind.

The ferry is taking folks out to Caladesi Island from Honeymoon Island.

It was still 79 degrees on our last walk of the day.

Today's bike route to Stevenson Creek and the Dunedin Community Center.

We had Chinese take out for dinner. We ordered Home Style Bean Curd, extra spicy. It was so hot, we were both crying as we ate and blowing our noses. John had to get chips to take some of the heat away. We decided it would be a good dish for someone on a diet because there was no way to eat it fast or eat much of it. We downed frozen dark chocolate and almonds after the meal to cool off our mouths (not so good for a diet). The dinner still tasted good and for $4.75 each, the value is unbeatable. Next time, we'll try a different strategy.

Miles walked: 9.1

  1. Glad you had a good day. Interesting that Toby stood up in his buggy. Our weather has been icy ALL day—- more expected tomorrow. In fact I think I felt ice in the ride to rehab this morning. Jeff even complained on icy conditions on his ride to Richmond this morning.

  2. Toby standing up in his crate reminded me of us standing up the seat without seatbelts when we were young. Not a good idea.

Jeff knows all about LEED credits. That is what he is all about. I will share this with him.

I wish I could grow a stag horn fern here. I may lose some of my plantings due to the cold icy conditions.
