Saturday

We went to the community center with Toby for an afternoon walk. It was 75 degrees, but not very sunny. I told John I didn't want to take a picture because it wasn't a pretty day. He insisted. He says you need to show that it's not always beautiful here. So, I took the above picture, but it still looks beautiful.

My brother-in-law is a LEED-certified engineer in North Carolina and will appreciate this plaque at the community center.

There was a little bit of blue sky. It rained briefly this afternoon.

This shaded walkway was Dee Dee's favorite in the summer heat.

On our morning walk without Toby, we drove to Stirling Park and then walked through Hammock Park and on to the Pinellas Trail. These new aluminum bridges were installed last year, replacing the wooden ones. These should last a long time.

At the corner of the park and the trail, the city is doing some clearing and dredging. We think they are digging an area for overflow when there are high tides. Previously, the water would have nowhere to go but into the street, making it difficult to walk from the trail to the park entrance. I'm sure the nearby residents didn't appreciate the periodically flooded streets either. I wonder if this is a recent problem or the result of global warming.

We walked on the trail all the way to Weaver Park and walked out to the pier.

The water was clear and very shallow. On our boat ride Thursday, Bob kept pointing out the depths. Even though we were a long way away from the shore, the water was only four feet deep, perfect for pontoon boats.

Today's fruitbowl included oranges, avocados, pears, and half-frozen cherries on a bed of peach yogurt. Delicious. The sandwich was the usual turkey/swiss on toast with hummus instead of mayonnaise.

We walked home via the sidewalk along Bayshore Boulevard to give us some variety. The legacy of Dexter carries on: that dog would never let you backtrack on a walk. We always had to invent a loop to get back or else he would dig in his heels and refuse to budge.

Morning cuddle time

We ordered take out Home Style Bean Curd from New Bamboo in the Causeway Plaza for dinner.

  1. I think the rainy day pics would make great paintings.

  2. The alumanion bridge is very pretty. Does Toby have freckles in his ears? Great photo of you/Toby. We are watching Duke/Carolina basketball. Carolina is outplaying Duke.

  3. I might try to paint that at some point.

Yes, Toby has freckles in his ears and behind his ears and on his fanny. And nose, belly, and scattered around other places.
