Thursday

On our morning causeway walk, we came upon this replica ship decked out with sailors wearing period appropriate costumes. The flag is the White Ensign or the St. George's Ensign, according to Wikipedia. The flag is worn by British naval ships.

The temperature was in the low 70s for our morning causeway walk, warm enough to ride our bikes. The temperature was in the mid 80s by the afternoon.

I'm not sure what the re-enactment was all about.

These two pelicans were enjoying the view of the sound from the tidal bridge. They could share no insight into the British invasion.

Toby began his day playing with Yuki and Mable, a very unexpected treat!

Mable tried to stay out of the line of fire.

Yuki is crazy for Toby. Most dogs get bored with her puppy energy, but not Toby.

Toby's doing his superman impersonation.

We got our taxes done this afternoon--a huge relief. In 2020, we lived in two states, got regular pay and pension pay, and rolled over a 403b and 3 IRAs. Since we didn't have any disbursements from our retirement accounts, our income was down compared to previous years. The upside to that is our taxes were lower, so we got refunds for Federal and North Carolina.

Next year should be simple, as Florida has no income tax and we won’t have to file a North Carolina return.

We celebrated with takeout from Julian’s Little Italy, which is next door to H&R Block.

Miles walked: 9.6
Miles biked: 4.96

  1. Glad you got your taxes done. It sounds like it was complicated with dual states. I love Yuki. Look forward to meeting all of Toby’s friends.
