My lap dog.

We had another rainy day but managed to get out and walk some between waves.

Toby held up pretty well, spending a little time in puppy jail when we couldn’t entice him to settle. Toby had us home all day and missed his usual naps. We managed a short nap while he was in jail.

John got his second vaccination shot, and so far feels okay. We noted that today set a record in the world for new infections. That fact shows how fortunate we are.

He’s sticking to his diet. Last night, we split a burrito. I was preparing our plates and turned to wash the knife. When I turned back, I saw Toby getting his paws off the countertop where John’s plate was. I could see a bite missing, so I got the knife out to cut the end off. John was so hungry he wouldn’t let me. “It’s okay. I’ll eat it,” he said. I knew he was hungry because he normally inspects every bite of food for foreign matter before he eats.

Even funnier was that the burrito had spicy chicken in it that was so hot, we were in tears eating it. So hot, you couldn’t even taste it. John said it was even hotter than some of my spicy disaster meals with habanero peppers.

Toby kept smacking his lips, walking around in circles, and going to his water bowl. Maybe he’ll think twice before counter surfing again.

So if John gets sick, we won’t know if it’s the burrito or Moderna.
