With apologies to Eliot, April is still my favorite month, and I do not find it cruel at all. Today's high temperature was 79 degrees. The low this morning was 61.
After lunch, I left John and Toby and headed to the outdoor gym at Weaver Park.
The secret for working out for me is to have a place to go where all you do is exercise. That’s why I’ve never been able to exercise consistently at home. There are too many distractions. I suspect that many people feel that way about working from home.
Another bougainvillea tree in the neighborhood.
You can see Toby’s gash above his eye from yesterday’s dog park episode. He has more on his neck. John and I were so depressed last night about him getting picked on by other dogs when all he wants to do is play.
Today we have hope. One of John’s friend’s son has found a doggie daycare in St. Petersburg that segregates their dogs by temperament so the passive dogs are all together. The daycare provides training, exercise, and supervised socialization. It’s about $25 per day or you can get a package of 12 visits for $284 that you can use anytime. We were thinking a once a week trip might be worthwhile. It would give me and John a break to go for a long bike ride or a long walk on the beach. The place has 242 reviews with an average of 4.9 out of 5.
After we are fully vaccinated and protected, we want to follow up with this idea.
On this morning’s walk Toby got freaked out by this pile of dirt and bags of mulch. He wanted to turn back and go home. We were able to gently coax him to walk past. He knew something was different and he wasn’t sure it was safe.
The causeway was nice. The water was clear. The temperature was perfect.
We rode our bikes to Publix to pick up a sub for dinner. This was John’s go to meal when he lived alone while I was still working in North Carolina.
Today's bike route to Weaver Park and Publix
Miles walked: 9.2
Miles biked: 9.32

Poor Toby. So sorry about his injury. I would have lost it with the other dog owners.
