We rode our bikes downtown this morning and locked them at the Main Street bike rack. Then we headed south through the neighborhoods paralleling the Pinellas Trail. We turned around at Sedeeva Street in Clearwater, a block or two short of Sunset Point, near Stevenson Creek. Then we walked back to downtown on the trail.
We listened to One Hundred Years of Solitude as we walked. We’ve learned that we don’t need to use the ear buds to hear; the IPhone speaker is loud enough. We may need them for the causeway though because of road noise.
The audio book does make the walk more interesting. The book’s style is magical realism so there are supernatural happenings that are to be accepted at face value. The book was published in 1967 and is considered Marquez’s masterpiece and an important contribution to World Literature. Marquez is Colombian. We think it’s funny and provocative.
In the picture above, John is looking over the books to borrow in the “Little Library,” one of 14 spread over the city. He ended up checking out a Spiderman DVD from the library, but since we no longer have a player, he watched it in the car!
The weather today was perfect. The humidity was 30% and the temperature 82 degrees at the warmest part of the day. The skies were clear and blue. I wore long sleeves on our morning walk and bike ride.
We found another blue eye in a knot hole.
This eye was near the train station and Scotland St.
We walked down Broadway which runs parallel to the trail, one block to the west. This street is where folks began hanging chandeliers in the trees. Now there are a dozen or so. Most of them are lighted at night.
I caught Toby by surprise for this obligatory picture for this blog.
Today’s bike route downtown
Miles walked: 6.3
Miles biked: 6.38

Look forward to seeing the added chandeliers in the trees at night. Loved your stance by the eye in the tree. Neat.
