From our last walk of the day at sunset. We’ve been working hard on Toby’s training. After our morning causeway walk, we picked Toby up and went to Petsmart to practice his down/wait command at the front door. Last week, he wasn’t able to do it, but today he did it three different times for several minutes each time. We also practiced “heel” in the store with some success. It’s a tough environment because of all the distractions.
Later in the afternoon, we took him to the community center and practiced “heel” with moderate distractions. He did that well. Of course, he does it beautifully in the house without any distractions.
John cooked and dried some chicken thighs to take with us tomorrow for training. Our trainer says we to raise Toby’s pay because we’re asking him to do really difficult things. Our regular treats today just weren’t cutting it.

Weaver Park is a beautiful park sandwiched between the Pinellas Trail and St. Joseph Sound. The Pinellas Trail is our bicycle “highway” to get anywhere: Hammock Park, Highlander Park, Edgewater Park, Pioneer Park, the Dunedin Community Center, downtown Dunedin, the Dunedin Marina, 4 pocket parks on the water, downtown Clearwater, Clearwater Beach, Dunedin Causeway, Honeymoon Island, Wall Springs Park, and Tarpon Springs. Many of those places are no more than 6 miles from our house, some much closer.
Our new plants appear to be thriving. The little ones are beginning to spread out.
Our morning causeway walk at 9:00. It was 75 degrees with 90% humidity and 5 mph breeze. The high temperature today was 86 degrees. I see that low to mid-80s and mid 60s are predicted for next week for the daily high and low temperatures.
Today’s bike route to Weaver Park
We got take out enchiladas from Con Sabor tonight, the Mexican restaurant next to Julian’s Little Italy. They were great!
Miles walked: 9.2
Miles biked: 6.48
Good luck tomorrow with Toby training. He sounds READY. 👍. LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR NEW PLANTINGS IN THE FRONT.
