We loaded Toby in the car after coffee time and headed out to meet the sun. We walked in darkness for awhile, and then slowly the sun rose.
We were both still feeling inadequate in our puppy training, but the new day gives us a chance to try again. It was a cold 71 degrees with an 11 mph breeze. John wore his hoodie and I wore long sleeves.
We took Toby home for a nap in his crate while we went back out to the causeway to walk. It had warmed up to 75 degrees.
The cool weather didn’t bother these folks swimming in the sound off the causeway.
We walked Toby at the community center this afternoon. We brought our 15 foot training leash to work with him at the end of the walk. He did several commands (sit, wait, come, etc.), but then got the zoomies and was only interested in running, jumping, and wallowing in the grass. I was ready to throttle him. We put his regular leash back on and headed home.
Honestly, I was a little mad at him, so I put his food in the really difficult puzzle. To my surprise, he mastered the puzzle all by himself! I didn’t touch the board or give him any hints until we were both looking for the last two squares. I was impressed. I was afraid that he wouldn’t ever be able to use it and that I had wasted my money.
He tried to get us riled up by parading his puppy blanket through the house, but we ignored him. He settled down and accepted his defeat.

It is a little chilly here. I am trying not to turn on the heat.
ReplyDeleteJeff left today for a week teaching his world in Raleigh.
I added party lights on my back porch. Will send pics. Had a great supper club.
The last photo of Toby wanted me to hug him tight and ask him to try harder tomorrow. The weather here was great for Fall Fling set up at 3:00 and guest arrival at 4:00. A great committee.
