Tuesday

John had a couple of appointments today, so we changed up our routine. We skipped our morning causeway walk. Instead, I did yard work getting ready for the lawn treatment guy. I didn’t want him to waste product on dead leaves. It was trash/recycle/yard waste pick up today, so it worked out well.

After lunch, I rode my bike out to Honeymoon Island while John went to his second appointment. I walked on the beach; then he joined me on the beach afterwards.

The first picture is at the north beach where the sand replenishment was done this summer. The picture above is north of that where they didn’t replenish. It was high tide. To the right of the dry sand is the water in an inlet on the sound side. That’s how narrow the island is at this point.

The blue dot shows where we were.

It was a gorgeous day. 84 degrees and 66% humidity. Lots of cloud cover, but still enough blue sky to keep it from being dreary.

John rode his bike out after his appointment. The ranger waved him through because she remembered that I had already shown our pass when I went through. It’s nice that she knows us.

The water was very clear and cool.

Toby gave each of us equal snuggle time this morning.

He got a long nap after lunch while we were at the island. It seems to have made him more calm today. We walked him several times, worked on training, and gave his dinner in a brain game.

When I told him to get in his crate and nudged him off the bed, he ran to it and got in! (I had pre-loaded it with treats, so he knew what was coming.)

That’s his head sticking out of his blanket. Usually at 4:45, he’s obnoxious. I think we’ve been underestimating the importance of long naps for puppies.

I’ve settled in to watch The Chair on Netflix. So far, it’s painfully familiar, but funny because I’m retired. It’s about an English department at a university, experiencing declining enrollment and modern culture.

Today’s bike route to Honeymoon Island

Miles walked: 10.2
Miles biked: 14.66

  1. We have watched some of the chair. Just don’t think about turning on the tv because I like to read at night.

The pics of the beach look like snow. The skies are beautiful.

  2. The beach is beautiful. Love Toby’s snuggle photos. So sweet. We are currently walking in the new park off highway 70.

  3. The Chair is supposed to be dramatic, but it’s too accurate. It could be a documentary.
Up to episode 5 it depicts the stupidity of modern culture, and how academics are fish out of water.
