Thursday

Today was a beautiful day. We wore short sleeves all day. The temperature was in the 70s for our morning causeway walk. Eventually, the temperature got up to 80 degrees.

We rode our bikes, so we stopped on the way back at Walgreens to get our flu shots. The pharmacist said I was ready for my Pfizer booster, but I didn’t want both at the same time, in case I had a reaction. I’ll drop by Monday and get the booster. The person giving the shot said not to flex my muscles and my arm won’t be as sore tomorrow. I said, “I’m not flexing.” Snap.

An afternoon walk around Lake Saundra.

A recent storm knocked our outdoor accent lights. I checked all the breakers and GFCIs and didn’t find any problems. Since the lights are working, it must have zapped the timer. They appear to also be on a photosensitive device because they came on at dusk even without the timer working. John says they’re LED so let them stay on all night. I’ll see if I can get used to the light coming through the window.

We tried another Mexican restaurant tonight for takeout: Crazy Burrito. We tried it once before and had a fish burrito and were disappointed. But we thought maybe if we stick with chicken we’ll have better luck. It was not good. John thought the meat was processed and greasy, just like the fish had been. At least we tried something new and gave them a second chance. It’s a popular place, so evidently someone likes it.

Toby was pretty good today. He got lots of walks, some training, and his loaded Kong for dinner that he had to figure out how to get his food out of.

On our last walk, a loose dog came charging at Toby full speed. It was a bit terrifying. A woman came running after the loose dog and reassured us he was friendly and just a puppy. Thankfully, Toby remained calm and didn’t react. After the two dogs sniffed, they even began playing as the owner tried to grab her dog. The woman apologized and finally got her dog by the collar. I’m so glad we have an even tempered dog that takes things in stride. It was a situation where we were essentially ambushed and couldn’t do anything.

Miles walked: 10.7
Miles biked: 5.73

  1. Yea Toby. You did very well with the charging puppy. You are becoming a leader. It was pleasant in NC today but with warm clothing. I had a great day with Pam attending a Van Gogh exhibit in Charlotte.
