We dressed Toby up for his 49 degree walk this morning with one of my smaller t-shirts. He looked so cute, of course, but the shirt tail was too loose and too long to make it work. He’s no dummy though. He did his business in a short walk and turned around to go home, naked as he came into the world. He doesn’t have an undercoat, and his hair is short and thin, nearly nonexistent on his belly.
We snuggled to keep warm during coffee time. I kept him covered in his blanket the rest of the day, except for when the sun shone on the lanai floor. Then I positioned his bed in the sun.
We stayed in and watched “Teachers” and “The Cook of Castamar.” I fixed us a fruit bowl with a perfect peach, navel orange, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, olives, Greek yogurt, and cottage cheese.
We walked as much as we could. The temperature only reached 59, but at least it was sunny. This is the first under 60 degree day we’ve had so far this winter. The forecast shows two more coming soon. One of our fellow neighborhood dog walkers said we should get a rebate on our property taxes for the cold weather. Floridians get a bit grumpy after two cold days in a row.
