Wednesday

We enjoyed another hot, but beautiful morning on the causeway. We rode our bikes to the drawbridge and walked to the Honeymoon Island entrance. The breeze was light.

We're trying to avoid using the car unless absolutely necessary, so we hooked up Toby's bike trailer to John's electric bike and headed to the grocery store after our morning walk.

Using Toby's trailer, we can buy more groceries than we usually do on bike. Typically, we save heavy things like orange juice and milk for a car trip.

We took several neighborhood walks with Toby between rain showers. There appears to be something growing in the middle of Lake Saundra.

It's funny how June comes and brings with it daily showers, after having very little rain the last five months.

I pruned the dead leaves and lower leaves of the bird of paradise. The internet said any time is a good time to thin them. I filled up a 32 gallon bin and got interrupted by a rain shower. About 15 minutes later, I was back at it. I should have pruned the frangipani that's hanging over the roof, but that should have been done in March before the leaves started coming out. It was so hot, I was drenched in sweat.

Late in the afternoon, we put anti-corrosion spray on our battery terminals and cleaned them up. Experts advised us that this maintenance would prevent getting stranded from corroded connections.  Then we used our watering system to "water the batteries," the other often overlooked maintenance task. We put a tube into a gallon of distilled water, and then pump until all the batteries are full. The watering system connects all the batteries to each other, so it's super easy.

It was pretty easy to clean the terminals. They look spic and span.

Then we set about washing the go cart for the first time. We had accumulated a good deal of road dust.

John did all the tall parts. Ironically, I banged my head on the red triangle--again. Hurts like hell.

While we had all the equipment out, I went ahead and washed the car.

We await our re-scheduled 4-point home inspection tomorrow.

Miles walked: 9.7
Miles biked: 9.1
