Tuesday

One of our neighbors on Watrous had a huge tree cut down today. The base was so large that they had to leave it on the street overnight and start fresh tomorrow picking it up.

We walked Toby around 8:30 this morning, and it felt like an oven. It was 90 degrees with a heat index of 100 degrees at that early hour. We decided to forgo our usual causeway walk and go shopping!

We went to Beall's Outlet on Patricia. I'm wearing one of my new shirts in the photo above. John said I looked like a construction pylon. Great bargains: shirts for $7.99-10.00. We loaded up! On many hot days, we go through a change of clothes every time we venture outside.

Sadly, the great tree was slowly dying, and the owner needed to remove it.

You could see the crane that they used to remove the tree all the way over at Lake Saundra.

Toby got a new toy from our morning shopping.

After Beall's we went to the Granada Publix on Main Street for a change. It's much larger than the one on Curlew and Bayshore Boulevard. Our neighbor said the prices were lower, too. That would make sense given that the Causeway Publix is the last stop on the way to the beach. Since we were in the car, we loaded up with all the heavy things that we normally have to buy sparingly when we are on our bikes: gallon jugs of vinegar, milk, OJ, and heavy jars of peanut butter and jelly.

We picked up a pub sub for lunch and had our normal sandwich and fruit bowl for dinner.

After lunch, I headed to the Weaver Park gym. I met a woman at the gym from Anclote (across the river from Tarpon Springs). She told me about the Coastal Anclote Trail at Anclote River Park for a nice bike ride and Miss Vicki's on the Tarpon River as a good place to eat. I told her about the Coastal Trail at Wall Springs Park. We had a nice conversation about work, retirement, and points of interest around the area.

The high temperature today was in the low 90s. Tomorrow the high will be in the upper 80s, so maybe we can get back to our normal causeway walk.

Miles walked: 5.5
Miles biked: 5.6
