John got this picture of a stingray from the drawbridge this morning.
This shot is of the Honeymoon - Caladesi ferry, taken from the tidal bridge on the causeway.
We got an early start this morning, walking Toby at 7:00 and getting on our bikes at 8:00, heading to the causeway for our walk. The day started at 75 degrees. We parked our bikes at Walgreens so that we could pick up a prescription and withdraw cash from our online bank, using Walgreen's cash machine for free. We really like the way Walgreen's texts us for refills. If the refill has reached its limit, they will call the doctor and request a new order. Then they text when it's ready to be picked up. No telephone calls or waiting in line.
By the time we got to the causeway, the temperature was 77 degrees with a 6 mph breeze. We doused our heads in the outdoor shower at the causeway restroom and carried on. I drank three bottles of water (refilled at the water fountain) on our walk, as the temperature rose to the low 80s.
The forecast called for heavy thunderstorms at 2:00, so I needed to make it to the gym well before that if I wanted to workout today. We made it back from the causeway at 10:00. We took a quick shower and had a regular lunch. I made it to the Weaver Park gym a little after 11:00 with plenty of time to exercise.
I made it home by 1:00 and had a PB&J for after-workout-energy.
The rain forecast kept getting pushed back, but around 3:00, it arrived. The temperature had gotten up to 90 degrees, but the rain brought it back down to 75, where we started this morning.
I set about to get car insurance quotes because ours is going up 17% at its renewal. I had success (saving over $400 a year), but I want to get one more quote before deciding. The company offers discounts if we pay in full, and in addition, we can use a credit card (no charge) and get cash back from our card. But their online reviews of customer service are not very good. I'll call the highest rated for customer service tomorrow and get a quote from them. I did learn one tip: Get quotes well before your renewal. All companies will increase the quote if you are about to run out of time before renewal, thinking you might be desperate for new coverage.
We had our last batch of Eggplant Paradise leftovers, much to John's happiness. We ate at 4:00, like respectable old folks. (We did have an early lunch! Actually, I had two lunches, but the first one was early.)
Toby stepped on an exploding mushroom ball on his last walk. It looked like poo on his leg. We went directly into the shower after our walk.
