After lunch, we took a go cart ride to Highlander Park and then on to downtown.
This is the east side (away from downtown) of the the new city hall under construction. Wood Street is to the left running down the south side of the building.
We parked at the train station and walked down to Kafe Racer on the Pinellas Trail. The temperature was in the mid-80s under good cloud cover. Unlike yesterday, there were patches of blue sky.
It takes a lot of concentration to get a good selfie in a moving golf cart and a moving dog.
The shell path at the back of Highlander Park is my preferred path to downtown. It's shaded, quiet, and safe (no cars).
This concrete sidewalk connects to a bridge over Cedar Creek that flows through Hammock Park. It's just wide enough and strong enough to support golf carts heading downtown.
The shell path meanders behind the baseball fields.
We rode our bikes to the causeway this morning to walk from the drawbridge to the ticket booth of Honeymoon Island State Park and back. Then we went to Publix to pick up fresh fruit and milk.
My idea of retirement before we retired was to be able to go to the grocery store daily to get fresh produce. It's been harder to break my habit of shopping once per week than I thought it would be.
I'm learning to relax and enjoy the daily trips, along with the inevitable spontaneous buys. John reminds me that if we get a few items every day, then we can manage shopping via bike, instead of using the car.
Miles walked: 9.4
Miles biked: 5.42
