Tuesday

After we walked Toby in the neighborhood, we headed downtown on our bikes so that we could walk the Pinellas Trail in the shade. The breeze was calm at 9:00 a.m., and the sky was sunny. We avoided the causeway.

The flower above is from one of our frangipani trees. I thought it looked pretty sitting up in the grass.

We walked from Main Street to Curlew and back. John took this shot of Cedar Creek from the Pinellas Trail at Hammock Park looking west toward St. Joseph's Sound.

Corvo Bianco on the corner of Curlew and Alt. 19 was closed for the day, but their remodeling is almost complete and they will resume regular hours tomorrow. We look forward to giving it a try. It's a great location for eating and watching passers-by on the trail, heading to the beach or north towards Tarpon Springs, or south toward downtown Dunedin and Clearwater beyond.

We had a good walk under beautiful skies.

Then we rode our bikes to Publix to pick up fresh fruit and yogurt.

Our fruit bowls runneth over with peaches, pears, cantaloup, diced vinegar cucumbers, vanilla Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, apples, blueberries, and blackberries. We've had a couple of months of perfect, locally grown peaches. I keep expecting them to disappear, but they keep on coming. Blueberries and blackberries are also in season and cheap: .99 for blackberry cartons and 3/$10 for organic blueberry cartons.

A couple of days ago, John was reading about Brown Basilisks and how they are thriving in Florida, even though they are not native to the state. So he was very surprised when he looked out our sliding glass door and saw this lizard crawling by: a Brown Basilisk.

We took Toby in the go cart down to Lake Saundra after lunch.

After our Lake Saundra walk with Toby, I headed back to Weaver Park to exercise. I've been rehabbing a sore shoulder, so today was the first time I've tested it in over two weeks. Until today, I just did stretching exercises at the gym. I injured it trying to do a new exercise that a young guy showed me. That'll remind me to act my age. Anyway, today went well. I took it easy. So far, no pain. I hate getting injured and having to rehab. It's so boring! Luckily, it was minor, and I found great PT exercises on the web for it.

We rode our bikes to New Bamboo for takeout. I think that's the forth or fifth meal in a row there. John says it's okay to eat Chinese every night because that's what the Chinese do. Ha. Can't argue with that. Besides a large order is plenty for two, and most of the dishes are only $10, so it's a good deal. No prep and very little clean up.

Getting take out from New Bamboo also means we can ride our bikes. We haven't cranked the car once today, but we've covered over 30 miles of Dunedin.

No manatees tonight at the Curlew Creek bridge on the Pinellas Trail. Boo!

Today's bike routes to Downtown, Publix, Weaver Park, Sunset Point, and New Bamboo

  1. I am impressed with your fruit bowls. And yes, the peaches have been delicious this summer. I have had a relaxing day.

I was set to take my friend to two dr’s appointments but she was too sick to go. I had a morning tennis lesson, worked my puzzle until my back started hurting, read a bit, went to the gym and then met our neighbors down at the culdesac.
