Thursday

Tonight the skeletons were doing the limbo. Each day, they are in a different situation: playing checkers, badminton, etc. The neighborhood's having a Halloween party at Lake Saundra and an after-party here at this house the Sunday before Halloween.

The days are getting shorter, so our last walk of the day is getting moved up.

This afternoon, we drove Toby downtown in his go cart. We ended up at the marina.

The temperature was 67 degrees, but it's cold in a golf cart and on the water. Toby was shivering. We bundled him in a blanket when we went to get pizza at Bambino's the other night. I think this winter, we'll all need a blanket.

The Dunedin Boat Club House, originally built in 1931, ten years after the last hurricane.

Toby's backside. His bumps are much better today, still visible but smaller. We stayed with him all day to keep him from biting them. We miss our morning causeway walk, but we've managed to be inventive and keep busy doing other things.

I actually got around to measuring the kitchen for our kitchen renovation. We talked about how we should go about it and when--probably the first of the year. I had a bit of a meltdown yesterday from looking at this pink kitchen. I think it's time to get serious about the renovation.

Our first step will be visiting cabinet makers and getting a rough idea of the cost and design. We've gotten good recommendations from neighbors both for cabinets and construction company, so at least we know where to start. It has been hard to focus because there are many projects on the "to do" list. We've been content exploring and playing and adjusting to retirement.

We had a bumpy ride down Victoria Drive. On the way home, John stopped the golf cart and said, "Do you hear that noise?" I thought I was having flashbacks in the Lexus. It turned out the noise was from the decorations flapping against the roof!

Toby was thoroughly entertained.

One advantage to his frequent showers is that he smells great and is fun to snuggle on the cold, open air ride.

We lost our ghost again. John says that was the star decoration. Maybe we'll run across it in our travels and zip tie it down.

A successful outing, for the three of us, anyway.

Toby at rest.

  2. I got a chuckle about “Do you hear that noise”? Party after the party sounds like fun. Good to hear. Enjoy!!! Is the 2nd party at the tree chandelier house? Your house always looks so CLEAN. Interesting kitchen renovation thoughts.

  3. Pam: yes that would be helpful
Mom: party is at another house. We’ve been keeping the floor extra clean for Toby.
