Today was Toby's day: Brain Games at Petsmart with Kellie.
Brain games are so much more fun than teaching and learning commands.
Toby's doing really well with his colors, blue and yellow.

Kellie is teaching him to learn the names of his toys. The candy corn is Candi (with an i) and the lizard is Laverne. He has to learn to "Go get Laverne" or "Go get Candi." He had some success. We'll practice this week.
Candi, yes.
The best thing about Brain Games is there's less talking. We do a lot of sitting around waiting for Toby to figure it out. It makes him really tired by the end of the hour and a half of training. Kellie said that Toby and Barclay are highly intelligent, but Buffy, the Siberian Husky, is not so smart. She said that Buffy was easier to train though.
Toby's DNA kit got lost in the mail, so we had to wait for a refund before re-ordering. Can't wait to find out his genetic make up.
We got Toby a winter jacket. Kellie said we didn't need one, that dogs' temperatures run higher than humans. We insisted that he did as he has no undercoat and his hair is so thin. She acquiesced and helped us to find the right size. I think it's so cute, whether he needs it or not. Don't worry, we'll get better pictures over time.
We woke up to the telltale sign of a sprinkler blow out down below: sand from beneath the rich top soil. I haven't had a sprinkler repair in a long time. I'll need to relearn everything.
This morning, it was 70 degrees for our 8:00 walk with Toby in the neighborhood.
We drove the car to get gas before our morning causeway walk. We parked at Dollar General and walked over to Walgreen's to get our Flu shot and Covid booster. We both got one in each arm. Then we walked the entire causeway from Walgreen's.
There was a good breeze on the causeway this morning, about 10 mph. Some sun; some clouds, even a few sprinkles. The high temperature today was 81 degrees.
This evening, another neighbor brought us a container of fresh-baked cookies. We gobbled them up within minutes. Our neighbors are making our workouts longer and longer.
Toby got a rinse in the shower after his last walk of the day. Kellie, our trainer, reminded us to wipe him down after every outdoor activity and to use the cloths only once. She said doing so, plus giving him Benadryl twice a day, is the best way to keep it under control until the season changes. Now, Toby's laundry pile is bigger than ours!
Miles walked: 12.1

Enjoyed Toby’s brain session. Very interesting AND fun I’m sure. A great blog. Both of you look great!!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you both for getting your flu and COVID booster. We both have ours.
ReplyDeleteGlad your neighbors are sending treats your way.
I am having problems staying awake at night but I do wake up way earlier.
