John and Toby were having a moment of sweet joy.
Scientists have shown that the pleasure center in a dog’s brain lights up in an ultrasound when it sees its owner, but not when it sees a stranger. Toby’s tail was just a wagging, no ultrasound needed.
We stayed home today to rest a bit. We took several neighborhood walks.
In the afternoon, we went to our neighborhood’s holiday party at Lake Saundra. We got teased by the president for missing the last party at Halloween when we were with Pam at the play. We met several new people. Three times people walked up to say they see us walking everywhere. One lady says she sees us at Publix several times a week. We got to talk to people on our street and others we’ve met before.
Many people we met have moved from the north. The conversation inevitably turns to our beautiful weather. Today was a good example: 63 degrees on our early morning walk; 77 and sunny on our afternoon walk.
Santa was there and a professional photographer. Santa said he saw us on our walk this morning when he was out biking. I just stared at him because I had no idea what he looked like. After a pause, he said “You stopped walking your dog and let me pass through at Fairway and Palm.” That, I remembered. I had no idea I was yielding to future Santa.
Lots of desserts and free pizza.
We enjoy our neighborhood, and they seem to like us too.
I took advantage of being home to clean our window sills. The initial project was to do the ones in the sunroom. I vacuumed first with a pointed nozzle, then a brush. Then I wiped them clean with a cloth and a bucket of water and Pinesol.
John said since I finished 7 windows, I might as well do the other 6 in the rest of the house. We call this project creep. I almost let things get out of hand with a window glass cleaning but that would have been too much.
As it was, I vacuumed up two handfuls of debris and two bucketfuls of dirty water. Good enough for now.
Later, I raked leaves and vacuumed the house.
Miles walked: 6.1
Miles biked: 0

Love the Toby John pics. So sweet.
ReplyDeleteI know about project creep but you and mom put me to shame with your cleaning. I am hosting my tennis group this week and have been cleaning Window sills, baseboards and things I never think on a weekly basis. Amazing how much crud I missed
Jeff and I went to Greystone Church’s annual Christmas show with mom and dad. It was over the top. We met many friends from their church who love them. It was good to be a part. I am worried because mom drove herself tonight and it is cold outside and she has to drive back. Too much!
I too loved the Toby/John photos. Thanks for sharing. I love your project creep story. It happens SO EASILY!!! Tickled to hear about your social life. Isn’t it wonderful to feel loved???? My drive back to Mebane was a piece of cake. I felt very confident. My vision was good, the Highway was lighted very well and traffic was very sparse. 👏. Love to all.
