Sunday

The temperature was 58 degrees on our early morning walk and last walk of the day, but it might as well have been the North Pole. I think we have completely acclimated to Florida’s weather. We were freezing. The high temperature did get to 62, so by my rules this wasn’t even a winter day because the rule says the high temperature must not reach 60 degrees to be considered a winter day. So far this season, we’ve had only 1 winter day.

We ran into some snowbirds who were bragging about the beautiful weather today. We just looked at each other and shrugged. Yes it was sunny, but the cold wind made it very uncomfortable. At least it wasn’t raining.

I told John that if someone told me it was 38 degrees I would believe them. That’s what 58 degrees feels like to us. We took several neighborhood walks but otherwise stayed inside today.

I remember before I retired and I came down to see John on my spring breaks in March, he would be freezing and I would be saying how warm it felt. He wore layers with a heavy jacket, and I wore a long sleeve shirt and shorts. He admitted recently that he was afraid there was something wrong with one or the other of us. Now we realize that coming from a long, cold, dreary winter in NC to a burst of 58 degree sunshine does feel warm. But if you’ve been enjoying warmth and sunshine for the last 10 months, a cloudy, windy, 58 degree feels brutal.

  1. We also had a breeze today to go with the low temperature. A busy day here. Church then SS was a party with food, fellowship. Jan even brought her 3 house guests. Amazing! Next was a floating dessert at BeeBee Thomas’ home with Yates friends. We arrived home from BeeBee’s with 5 minutes to get to Ellen’s open house with neighbors. A day long full with food/fellowship. Pooped! Love to all.
