Wednesday

Even though it was 44 degrees on our first walk with Toby, the temperature finally warmed to 73 degrees. We were happy to ditch long underwear. We even made it to the causeway to walk, but we had to wait until after lunch. John says I’m experiencing a pre-COVID Dunedin winter holiday for the first time. Everything is crowded. And there are lots of new faces on the causeway.

By the time we rode our bikes to the causeway the temperature was already in the upper 60s.

Lots of people on the Pinellas Trail

Happy and warm

Some people were even in the water.

Toby had a better day today. It helps when we leave the house because he gets a long, uninterrupted nap.

Miles walked: 10.6
Miles biked: 5.05

  1. Mom and dad get to go to Emerald Isle tomorrow and I am glad.

Since Jeff has COVID, I had to take a few things to Mike. Was suppose to leave them at the front desk but she told me where to go to Mikes hall and I got in. As I waking to leave his bags at the nurses station, I passed his group getting on the elevator going to an activity. I then saw Mike sitting in the cafeteria all by himself drinking coffee. My heart sank. A nurse let me in and let me go to him. He was having a hard time putting sentences together but was happy to see and the things I brought. A chatty woman stopped by and they both have dogs named Maggie. I was nervous that I was going to get kicked out and soon the nurse who let me in was nervous that she was going to get in Trouble for letting me in. I tried to leave to take Mikes things to his room but he wanted to go with me. It took forever for him to follow me to his room. I took him back to where I met him and nurse was frantic now that I had to leave. Chatty Betty came to rescue and took Mike under her wing and I was able to escape.

I learned later that he had to be tested for COVID since Jeff told them he has COVID. Mike tested negative and is good to join the others tomorrow. What an experience.

  2. Thank you Pam for the update. I wondered all day about Mike’s adjustment. You had quite an experience delivering Mike’s bag.

    Toby looks so comfortable.
We didn’t begin to pack for the beach until late
today when we finally got in touch with a Covid specialist and he gave us the green light when I told him the facts as Pam outlined for us.

    Love to all. Mom
