John ordered our second set of frames last night after dinner. When I woke up and took Toby outside this morning at 5:30, the frames were on our doorstep. How do they do that? Anyway, I’ve chosen our pictures for display.
I think we like the idea of a single row in the long hallway the best, as far as placement goes.
We’ll treat the wall like a gallery wall with the prints at eye level. I think it’s going to look cool. Hanging them will be interesting. Fortunately, they are light weight.
I had to do math. Luckily, my calculations were accurate. I remember when John and I hung an antique mirror over the fireplace at Dollar. We measured and measured to get it centered up and down and side to side. We finally hung the thing, which weighed a ton, and stepped back to admire our work. It was perfect. . . up and down, but it was about two feet to the left of center. There was nothing to do but laugh. It was wayyyyy off, ridiculously so.
The lesson is: when things go wrong, you get a good story to remember so don’t sweat the disasters. We still laugh about that one to this day and wonder how our calculations got so far off.
No funny story today, just the usual interruptions. At one point Toby decided to walk down the hallway on top of our pictures, licking each one as he went. I had carefully placed them on the floor while I hammered so they wouldn’t fall and get scuffed up.
I stopped what I was doing and removed the pictures from the floor and took them to the sunroom table for safe keeping, even though it meant more steps. When I got back to hanging hangers, I couldn’t find the hanger I was working on. Then I saw and heard Toby chewing on it. It’s a small piece of plastic with four pin nails coming out of it. A few commands and treats later, the hanger was back in my hands, and I carried on.
We stopped to walk Toby.
It was a very cool day. The temperature said 63 for the high, but it felt like 53. We spent most of the day indoors.
We had a nice sunset.
This morning, John and I went to the consignment and secondhand furniture stores looking for dressers and nightstand table for my mom and dad’s room for their next visit. Currently, there’s a shortage of flat space in the room. We found these possibilities but nothing bowled us over.
This small table had possibilities.
I liked this small table in a mint green for a nightstand if we went in a shabby chic direction.
Meh
Only if painted, but . . . Bleh.
I thought this one was cute, but not the right style. We’ve decided the style is “glam” with my sister’s capable guidance.
This piece caught our eye, but only because of the possibilities. It’s quite hideous as it is. What do you think?
So, we’ve been pouring over Amazon and Wayfair websites seeing if we can find something there that is “glam” or “glam adjacent” or “complementary glam.”
Here’s one of the smaller pictures I printed with our hallway picture project. We repurposed an old frame. It’s cool because the frame is also pretty from the back side.

Love the picture wall. Well done. I have many nail holes behind most art hanging in my home. Jeff has an engineering formula which I used successfully for the art I helped to hang in mom and dads house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a mathematical wall art project. A great place for display. A long way from hanging the maiden in the Monticello living room. Remember??? Please don’t fret about flat space. Love to all.
