John took these great pictures of Toby running in Stirling Park late this afternoon.
We rode in the golf cart and found the park empty.
Toby had a great time running some energy off.
We’ve worked with him several times today on his commands. We even got some hot dogs and cooked them in the oven after slicing them up into bit size pieces. This tip was shared by our trainer when she saw us struggling to get his attention.
The other thing she told us is to place treats in hiding places all over the house. Then get him to do his commands when there is no treat in sight . . . and then pull out the treat and reward him. This way he will be eager to obey and will never know if a treat is coming or not.
Since we were already at Bayshore Boulevard, we crossed over and checked to see if Bambino’s had any specials. We settled for a vegetarian pizza with sun dried tomatoes, artichoke, and garlic. The owner brought it out to us in our golf cart along with a handful of pepperoni slices for Toby. Last time, he barked at her, but this time he sat and acted like a gentleman. I don’t think he’ll be barking at her again.
After lunch, I rode my bike to Weaver Park to exercise. It was sunny and 79 degrees, absolutely beautiful. That’s me riding on the Pinellas Trail taking a selfie as I ride.
That was one of my 67 pull-ups.
That’s another one. My cybersecurity/philosophy friend dropped by from his bike ride to do some pull ups and dips. A neighbor rode by on the trail and yelled “Hello Perry” as she rode by. She’s planning a pier and sunset dinner for some folks and wants us to come. It’s nice to finally be acquiring acquaintances. It takes a long time for an introvert.
After working out, I rode south on the Pinellas Trail until I ran into Alt. 19 and turned around.
I stopped at the Stevenson Creek bridge to take this picture of the condo progress.
The Trail was very busy today.
This morning we rode our bikes out to the causeway and walked. No fog today.
The temperature was in the mid to upper 60s, which made for a pleasant walk and ride.
The water was calm without a breeze.
Our gutter repair was the first step before milling and repaving. The city is going to pave all of Watrous and Ford, which we use mostly when biking to the causeway and back. I didn’t think our street was that bad, but the city has a master plan for repaving, and our number came up. So far, they’ve paved four streets in our neighborhood within the last year, not counting the ones coming up.
Today’s bike routes to the causeway, Weaver Park, and Alt. 19 in Clearwater
Miles walked: 11
Miles biked: 17.42

67 pull ups is crazy. I have been fighting the blues due to the gray skies and cold relentless rain but I went to the gym this afternoon and it perked me up.
ReplyDeleteToby looks so happy running free. I told my BS friends about him learning to read and they looked at me like I had two horns. But I was proud of him just the same.
I agree Pam…. 67 pull ups…..a record! Toby looks like he is at TOP speed. I ran errands in Durham today after the gym. I needed to get out. Our weather has made it easier to just stay inside. Happy to hear about ya’ll social calendar. Had an interesting conversation with a young woman (at the gym) with parents 82 and 85 today. Her Mom has begun the noticeable aging process and lots of doctor’s appointments. Quite interesting. 😀Love to all.
ReplyDeletePam: I showed a small group of friends the video with Toby and Perry with the cue cards. They were blown away.
