Friday

We had lunch at the covered bridge.

Delicious burgers. John got a double; I got a single and a salad.

We took the golf cart to lunch and parked at Stirling Park. Then we walked to Curlew and back to work up an appetite. It was about 80 degrees at noon, partly cloudy.

I rode my bike to Weaver Park for yoga this morning.

It was 75 degrees with an 11 mph breeze.

Yoga is helping me so much.

Our last walk of the day was at Stirling Park. The water in the ponds is very low. Our rainy season is still a month away.

Political News
DeSantis signed a law (SB 1580/HB 1403) giving doctors and healthcare providers the right to refuse treatment for gay and trans patients. It’s called the “Protections of Medical Conscience” Act. If a doctor, (dentist, hygienist, nurse, etc.) refuses to treat me or John because we’re gay, there’s nothing we can do about it. We would have to find another doctor who would treat us, a humiliating scenario. But I think that is the point.

I seriously question what kind of conscience such a health care provider has. I suppose DeSantis has to prove to his base of conservative Republicans that he is more cruel than Trump, which is really saying something.

What I wonder is: Where are the real people of conscience when politicians egged on by their followers enact such laws?

  1. Thanks for disgusting info from DeSantis.

My package has come. I want to open it when we can FaceTime. It is very heavy. I struggled to get it inside.

  2. This is so very sad and makes me angry. Much like Trump’s town hall mtg after his recent guilty verdict. He made fun of Ma Carroll much to the glee of the crowd. Just sick! I too, want to know where are the decent people who care deeply for the rights of others and show kindness to all

    1. This law is very wrong and unchristian. I am so sorry that it looks upon you as a second class citizen. I can’t image the hurt it does to the core of who you are as a child of God.
I pray sensible people will challenge the bill and declare it unconstitutional.
