We started our day around 5:30 and with an early Toby walk at sunrise, about 6:30. The rain had cleared the air, so we went on our long neighborhood walk. After cereal, we drove to the causeway to walk. It was about 75 degrees and mostly cloudy with some sun. The breeze was blowing about 7 mph, so it was a comfortable walk. After picking up items from the grocery store, we headed home for lunch, and it was only 9:30. Ha!
After lunch, I tackled cleaning up the garage. It was a huge mess. (This is an after picture.)
I got boxes of CDs ready to take to the library by placing them in the car. That should motivate us to actually do it.
Straightened up and put away stuff.
Cleaned up and organized.
Pulled junk from the shelves to give away and straightened up the rest. Got things off the floor wherever possible!
Then I pulled out boxes of things to set out on the curb this weekend for people to take for free. It's amazing how things pile up that you don't want to throw away, but you don't want either. Sometimes, time takes care of those decisions for you: the items are moldy, torn, broken, etc. Then it's easy to let go. I got a lot of things off the floor, which is the key to fighting clutter. Clutter drives me crazy!
We're down to two cuckoo clocks (Why? Why?) and three boxes of silver and crystal from John's parents. I've got them neatly stacked in the corner waiting for him to decide what to do with them. Most importantly, we have a clear path to the door. I'm tired of shimmying around the car to get inside!
As I've said before, decluttering also involves moving things from one room to another, which inevitably happens when you can't decide to let something go. It kills me to bring things back into the house once I have gotten them to the garage, a defeat, but, alas, it happens. Maybe next time . . .
We drove the golf cart to Bambino's for the spaghetti night special--a well deserved treat!
Toby went along for the ride. Such a good boy sitting in the cart. He turned 3 the day after our food poisoning. He's no longer a puppy. We'll celebrate soon.

Because I have had time in
ReplyDeletethe last two weeks, I have tried to dr-clutter but most of what needs de-cluttering belongs to Jeff or the kids. Alas, I hope when he retires, we can get rid of stuff together.
I fixed a pork chop dinner and green beans tonight and Er joined us. Jeff had to go to LKN to remove furniture from
the house. Julie and he got it done for potential renters.
It has RAINED AlMOST ALL DAY AGAIN!!!I I really want to spray my knock out roses. When I pruned them last week I noticed those little white bugs.
ReplyDeleteHappy 3rd birthday Toby.🎉🥳
Sounds like some progress on a Lake Norman renter. 👍👏👏 Good news.
Love to all.
