Tuesday

We drove the golf cart down to Stirling Park and walked south on the Pinellas Trail to Weaver Park. It was already 79 degrees at 8:15 when we started. The trail is about 80% shaded at that time of the morning. The city has planted shrubs on each side of the sign at the Weaver Park portion on the waterside, near the pier.

We walked out to the end of the Weaver Park pier.

Skies were clear. You could see all the way to Clearwater.

That's the downtown Dunedin marina in the distance.

I found this example of horizontal and vertical tile in the same kitchen. Mom suggested horizontal for the backsplash and vertical for the bar. It works here, but I think our space is too small to pull this off.

We returned our sample tiles to Countryside Tile and Marble and stopped by Home Depot to look at backsplash samples. We found this Seaglass Pebbles sample! It would go with our white quartz countertop and white slab front doors and drawers, and stainless steel appliances. This one would only be for the backsplash because it's too busy for the bar. John and I were both keen on sea glass for the countertops, but we learned that there can be issues with the stones and shells popping through the resin. I think having the glass on the backsplash makes more sense.

Here's a picture of it installed I found online. Quite stunning. Do you think we would get tired of it because it's so striking? I found an article online that said to avoid glass mosaic backsplashes:

"It doesn't matter what color they are, what shape, or what size. Glass tile mosaics are dated and not high-end looking."

I wonder if our designer would agree. The fact that it was at Home Depot indicates that it might be very popular.

  2. Love the flowering trees flanking Weaver Park sign. I like the first sample in tonight’s blog. Look forward to your decorator’s suggests.
