Friday

We walked Toby this morning in the neighborhood and ran into our friends walking their dogs. They turned around and we walked together. It's good socialization for the dogs and us. Afterwards, I went to Weaver Park to do yoga and weights. Then I rode my bike downtown, to the marina, and back on Victoria Drive alongside the sound.

I crossed over to the Pinellas Trail at Weaver Park.

Even though the temperature was in the upper 80s, it didn't feel as hot as it has been. It was hot enough though. The breeze helped.

John said his back had been hurting him and he asked me to show him some of my back exercises. We did a few and he got vertigo. We did some more and he felt nauseated, as you can see in the picture above. He had just finished a huge bowl of cereal. He got in the bed, and I went to the gym. When I got home, I could hear him throwing up from the garage. He threw up all day long whenever he was not sleeping.  I asked him if that had ever happened before. He said, "I've never exercised before." Oh, dear. At noon, he was still not feeling well. At sunset, he's still throwing up whenever he moves. I've been giving him fluids. I did research on vertigo. I learned that some people get vertigo when their heads do certain movements because it jiggles the crystals in the inner ear and they get loose and cause you to feel dizzy. I'm pretty sure the yoga did that. With the dizziness and the full stomach, he was off to the races. He thinks his stomach will eventually calm down. I found maneuvers on the internet that can help the crystals get back to where they are supposed to be, but he's too sick to try them--a catch 22. He hasn't had a thing to eat since breakfast.

Our pet trainer emailed last night and sent these pictures. She said she missed us and wanted to know how Toby was doing.

I took Toby in the golf cart to Stirling Park for sunset. I knew he wouldn't walk in the neighborhood without John, especially with all the loud retching noises. Toby has been spooked all day, not understanding what's going on. Toby did some walking but he kept looking for John and wanting to go back to the golf cart.

The vacant stare.

The searching.

The bewilderment.

He never pooped, so we came on home. He ran to get inside and went straight to check on John. I hope John will feel better in the morning and that all his crystals will find their normal place.
