Thursday

I put primer on the newly textured walls in the kitchen, laundry, and surrounding areas.

I ran out of primer at noon, so I went to Ace to pick up another gallon, along with an extended handle to reach the tall spaces. The right tool makes all the difference.

I had to climb on top of the ledge in the picture above to do the cut in.

I was able to finish all the cut in by the late afternoon. John held the ladder for me. He also took care of Toby and fetched us lunch.

The neighbors across the street brought us hot hors d'oeuvres.

One of the shelf hooks in the laundry room broke. I got a replacement, but it looks slightly different. That will be a small project for later.

I think the laundry room will actually look better without the tile on the walls. It looks cleaner.

At 6:15, the new appliances were delivered. We left them in the box, but as soon as we get a chance we're going to open them up and take a peek to make sure they aren't damaged. Our neighbor works at the appliance store and said to look them over and let her know if we need to exchange anything.

Appliance installation paraphernalia.

One of our neighbors is a car nut. This is his Christmas decoration this year. Pretty clever Florida snowman.

We've been getting a lot of take out from Bambino's this month. Toby gets to go along for the ride.

Next up: The owner and the designer are coming to our house Friday morning to look at our primary bathroom. We know they are backed up until September, so we thought we might as well get on their schedule with our next project. By then, we'll be recovered and ready to move on with house renovations. After they leave, I'll do what I did today, except I'll be using paint instead of primer. I'm hoping that the paint will go on faster. The textured walls soaked up the primer quickly, lots of reloading. Painting is sort of like yoga, but much worse. No one does yoga for 8 hours. I told John there was a reason we got rid of all our painting supplies.

  1. What a nice update. Some scary (ledge priming). What a great team. Hope the painting goes well today. Look forward to next update. Love your thoughtful neighbor.

  2. What plans do you have for your primary bathroom? Fresh paint makes everything better.

  3. We want to replace the garden tub with a freestanding tub. The counters are impractical, ugly, and falling apart. The standing shower will be taller and frameless. The floors will need to be replaced, and we would do the entire suite. The carpet in the bedroom is beyond gross. Phase two of this project would be replacing the flooring throughout the rest of the house.
