Two electricians returned today. Most of their work can't be seen.
When they removed the intercom wiring on the other side of this wall, they had a live wire on a circuit that they had to do something with. They couldn't leave it in the wall, and they didn't want to leave a full plate cover over it, so they decided to add a receptacle to this end of the hallway, which is opposite the intercom system. Creative and brilliant.
Per code, they added hardwired smoke detectors in each bedroom and two smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
The ironing board wire was flipped around to the laundry room where they will put a full plate on the unused outlet accessible from inside the cabinet. Code says that live wires must be accessible.
Unused cable outlets waiting to be patched.
One outlet and one hole to be patched.
One hole waiting to be patched. These are temporary switches for the living room accent lights on the plant shelf and the fan. The fan will have its own light/fan combo and will replace one of the switches above.
The range got wired and boxed.
One of the new LED lights above the range and counter will sit in that circle. There's another one on the other side of the range.
The smoke alarm in the kitchen got removed.
They removed all the wiring for the multiple undercounted fluorescent units and replaced them with a single low voltage line for the new undercounter lights.
The switch on the top left is temporary. It will be white and will need to stay where it is because the wiring is too short to bring it down to the row of switches below. But that's okay. It is the switch to the ceiling fans in the sunroom, so it makes some sense for it to be different. The fan switch where the hole is was brought down to the switch below. It will be a combined fan/light switch like the one in the living room (not yet installed). The other two switches will be the rocker type switches. Our contract calls for the rocker type switches to be throughout the project. I guess we'll replace the others in the house on our own to match.
We might change our quartz countertop to a solid white instead of the one we chose with faint gray and brown spots. We're going to contact our designer tomorrow.
Up next: the plumber needs to come and solve two plumbing issues with the sinks and install the fridge water line and junction box. The cabinets have to be installed over the pipe stems, like a necklace. Currently, the stems have too many branches, so they have to be cut down and rebuilt after the cabinets are installed. All the current work has to do with rough in stuff. Both the electrician and plumber will return later after the cabinets and countertops are installed to do finishing work.

Fascinating!
