Tuesday

The drywall folks came back this morning. They brought their extra tall ladder to reach the former smoke alarm in the kitchen. John left them a breadcrumb trail so they wouldn't forget. We'll have to use our rickety ladder when we paint. John said it's a death trap and wouldn't let me offer it to them to use.

It probably looks the same to the viewer, but the walls have now been textured.

The texture is called “orange peel.” It’s the finish that you don’t want on your car paint, a sign of a bad paint job.

But for walls, I suppose it’s okay.

It does hide a multitude of flaws.

We are supposed to wait as long as possible before painting to give the texture time to dry. If we paint too soon, the wet paint will pull up the texture. Today’s task is going to be keeping John from getting started. There is no rush since they are not installing the cabinets until the day after Christmas. My approach to painting is to open the can and paint until you finish because clean up is a pain. I think we’ll get an early start Thursday morning.

Toby and I snuggled in the sunroom this morning while the workers worked.

  1. We have the best tall ladder which we have banned ourselves from. Could you BORROW your crew’s ladder? Wish I could throw our ladder your way. John you cracked me up with your bread crumbs. Lol at Pam’s bath room project memory. I went to help. Several days later she finished. I repeat you have the cleanest site. Wish I was there to help paint.
