Everyone arrived before 8:00 a.m.: plumbers and the boss. We got our sinks installed and working and our appliances installed, range and dishwasher. And the fridge got hooked up to the water line. We had large and small ice cubes in a few hours.
We started bringing things back in. We had a long list of things to do. We kept getting distracted. We wanted to do everything all at once. We are having to learn new habits. We keep going to the old fridge and using the step ladder as a counter and going to the bathroom to get water and clean a bowl.
We focused on food. John made a pot of homemade vegetable soup using our new range and cookware. The induction cooktop worked as advertised. The food gets hot first, not the pot. The handles stay cool. Eventually, the heat transfers from the food to the pot, but by that time, your food is long ready. The cooktop was just warm to the touch after cooking a big pot of soup.
We haven't had many vegetables for the past two months, mostly sandwiches. I told John that we're having vegetables for the next six months.
The boss fixed the harsh accent light with his 45 degree angle platform, worked beautifully.
Unpacking a kitchen is messy. Deciding where things should go is fun but exhausting. But it is so nice to have running water in a real sink. We ran our first load of dishes, mostly to check for leaks.
We found one small leak under the laundry room sink. We texted the boss who said he noticed it and pointed it out to the plumber to fix. He apologized for not going back to check his work. No big deal, since we have the mat in place to catch drips. It kind of made me feel good because whenever I do plumbing there is always a leak with the first few attempts.. They'll be back tomorrow to fix it. John was not amused. He said my plumbing leaks because I’m not a plumber.
Up next: leak fix, trim under the overhangs, a few more kitchen storage units, get rid of the old refrigerator, and move the furniture back in.

Loved every word this morning. So excited for you!!! Looks great.
