Sunday

Toby, dressed for his cold, early morning walk--in the mid-40s.

Today, we hung the closet rails. We moved the bars 2 1/4 inches closer to the wall from where the manufacturer placed the holes. This gave us over two inches more in the open walking space. We used a level to get the holes where we wanted them.

The previous owner left a box of excellent drill bits in the garage. I used several of them. Mine were all worn out and dull.

All four rails in place.

Rails without my construction junk.

While we waited on the new knobs to arrive, we moved our clothes into the unit.

We covered the previous rail holes with these stickers.

The knobs arrived mid-afternoon, less than 24 hours after I ordered them.

New knobs and hanging things

Our designer said to hang pants up top and shirts down below for a more pleasing look. Pants take up less room, so they work best at eye level. We don't wear long pants in Florida very often. She also recommended using the same kind of hangers for a more pleasing look. We ordered some pants hangers that match our shirt hangers. (We got the wooden shirt hangers for free from a neighbor.) The pants hangers should arrive overnight between 4 a.m-8:00 a.m.!
