Monday

The plumber came first thing this morning to finish putting the drain in place. He filled the tub with water up to the overflow for the inspectors to see.

All of the connections are exposed and ready for inspection.

The flooring people dropped off some supplies for later in the day. John jogged down to the Pinellas Trail while I watched Toby.

The contractor dropped by to install the new ceiling fan. The external part will get installed after the drywall, mudding, and texturing people finish their work.

He left a piece of cardboard in the garage to cover the tub, but we recycled it last week thinking it was trash. He brought a new piece on his second trip today. He says that without it the tub would get filled with a lot of debris that would be hard to clean later. Experience matters.

After lunch, before the tilers arrived, I biked down to Weaver park and did my stretching and strength training. It was a beautiful 76 degrees and sunny. I saved time going to Weaver so I could get back for the tilers.

The tilers surveyed the spaces and came up with their plan, marked their lines, and began staging their equipment and tile.

They also removed a couple of narrow strips of tile that used to transition to the laminate flooring in the bedrooms. In their place, the tilers will use whole tiles so there will be no break in the pattern.

The tiles will flow into the bathroom without a break.

As they left for the evening, they told us their plan for tomorrow: there will be three guys working, one in each bedroom and one in the bathroom. They think they will be able to get much of it completed. After that, the grouter will fill in the gaps. Then the drywall, mudding, and texture can be applied. Then the tile for the bathtub. Somewhere in there, the electrician will come to remove several coaxial cable and phone outlets and replace the rest of the outlets and switches in the house with a more modern design to match the ones in the kitchen, bath, and entrance hall. They'll also remove the living room fan and hang it in the front bedroom, after replacing a faulty capacitor. They'll hang a new 65 inch fan in the living room that's a sleeker design and more quiet (if it works the same as the one we have in our bedroom with the same design, only smaller)

We finished watching season 2 of Ted Lasso.
