Tuesday

The electricians came around lunch time and started their work. They got the bathroom outlet installed.

The bathroom switches

Close up

They updated the outlets in the front bedroom.

They started on the back bedroom.

They removed the old ceiling fan and hung this new one.

It's bigger (65 inches), quieter, and puts out more air. The light dims.

It's like the one in the bedroom, only larger.

The electricians are coming back tomorrow to finish installing the updated outlets in the rest of the house and calibrate the fan/light controls.

We had some technical issues to overcome. We decided to return the ceiling fans for the two bedrooms because the installation wasn't going to look right. We're going to keep the existing fans for now, even though the style is not good. We may try our hand at replacing them ourselves when we get some free time. We are also going to return the door handles and deadbolts because they are from different brands and the keys are not compatible and therefore the locks cannot be re-set to use one key. We've learned a lot about fans and door hardware today.

We have now ordered Kwikset handles and deadbolts because they come with a tool that allows you to re-key all of your Kwikset hardware to use one key, saving a hassle and money for the locksmith.

And they have front door hardware that we like for the future that we can also re-key ourselves when we get around to getting a new front door and hardware.

Our pile of returns for drop off at Whole Foods.
