Thursday

The A/C guys arrived just after 8:00 after our walk.

We knew it would be messy so we raised the shades to keep the dust off and moved out the furniture.

Our contract also asked them to check the duct to the back bathroom. They disconnected the duct and found out why the bathroom wasn't getting any air to it. They pulled out two plastic grocery bags (pictured above) that were stuffed into the duct.

How they got there or why is a mystery, but they were clogging the air flow. The bags were located near this junction box not at the register. The house inspector had flagged the airflow problem six years ago when we bought the house, but we couldn't figure out why it didn't work.

The workers laid out where the new registers will go.

Then they stuck long, metal rods from the sunroom into the attic so that they will know where to run the ducts.

They added this new large duct off the main line.

Then added this junction box where they added the two new lines and reconnected two existing lines. They did it this way to prevent the new lines from decreasing flow to the existing lines.

New registers

Our contractor is still pulling together his part of the project and has promised numbers on Monday for removing the old AC wall unit and patching the hole. We'll convert the existing outlet to a normal outlet.

All back together for now.

Our next project is to replace our ancient irrigation system. I've been doing research and watching videos and I think I can do this and save some money.

I've also been researching the solenoids and valves that are in the ground.

A couple of the solenoids are cracked, but they seem to still be working somehow. We'll probably hire an irrigation specialist to replace these because there are so many variables.

John removed more plastic edging and dug up a schefflera plant. It grew so fast that we had to prune it back every few months.

Blooms on the south side of the house.
