A project before today's main painting project: update the old can light over the entrance with a flush-mounted LED light. Above is the old fixture.
When I removed the trim for the old light, 34 years of dead bugs fell out.
The new light looks great. It has six different colors from warm to cold, all controlled by the switch inside the house. We just turn it on and off to cycle through the colors. When you get the one you want, it will remember the next time you turn it on.
I removed tape from above the bathroom window and did some razor blading.
I spent the afternoon painting Swiss Chalet on the walls.
I didn't do any cut in, just rolled the walls, even the decorative low wall below the cap.
We wanted to get a feel for the color before committing to cut in.
I painted a whole gallon.
It's the first time that the color wasn't too dark.
It will turn darker as it dries and with a second coat.
We might also go one color darker on the second coat: Antarctica.
Antarctica on top; Swiss Chalet on bottom
This is Swiss Chalet
This is Antarctica
On our house, they are very similar: on top is Swiss Chalet; on the bottom is Antarctica. A reject color is in between.
We'll see how we feel about it tomorrow before making our next move.
It is very subtle.
Pictures at sunset
Night pictures below. Swiss Chalet is almost invisible. I think we'll have to up the color to Antartica tomorrow for the second coat.
