Today's projects were to fix this mess and do more scraping of loose paint. We are racing to get things prepped for painting before the anticipated rain.
I did research about removing these boxes. I wanted to remove the two boxes we weren't using. The Internet was inconclusive. Some said the equipment belongs to Verizon and they must remove it; others said you could remove it. I called Verizon and they said I could remove it since it was installed by the previous owner for landline telephone service, there is no existing account, and it is currently not connected to anything because we had all of our inside phone connections removed during the renovations.
Gone!
I extrapolated from that information to move on to this coaxial cable box that was also cut and not in use, except by wasps and lizards. We have never used it.
I removed it along with . . .
the conduit.
Gone!
We went from this . . .
and this . . .
. . . to this. The conduit at the top is for Verizon cable. We don't use it, but it's nice to keep this option if we become dissatisfied with our wireless Internet through AT&T. The conduit at the bottom is for our sprinkler system. I spackled over 2 dozen holes for these two boxes and conduit lines. Notice the pink paint color under the two boxes. Our house was originally pink, inside and out!
I struggled to get these concrete screws out. Tried lots of things. Finally, I just whacked them with a hammer until they broke off.
Then I scraped more loose paint all along the north wall.
I spackled the window cavity in anticipation of rain the next three days.
I wanted to wait as late as possible to spackle.
I spackled this exposed metal too, but I forgot to get a picture.
Now, we wait for 3 days of rain to pass through before we get back to priming and painting.

All I can say is WOW WOW! What a major job. You both will be very proud of all that unused stuff being gone. Will show up your paint job better. BRAVO!
